About this tool
The question pools
Every US amateur exam question comes from a public pool written by the NCVEC Question Pool Committee. This tool uses the pools in force today: Technician 2026โ2030 (from July 1, 2026, with the February 19, 2026 revision), General 2023โ2027 (with the 6th errata of February 4, 2026) and Amateur Extra 2024โ2028 (with the 4th errata of February 4, 2026). Questions withdrawn from use are left out. Diagrams are the official pool figures.
How the real exam works
Technician and General exams have 35 questions and you need 26 correct; the Extra exam has 50 questions and needs 37. Each exam takes one question from every group in the pool, which is exactly how the practice exam here is built. You pass Technician first, then General, then Extra; there's no Morse code requirement.
Your progress
Answers are saved only in this browser, so nothing is sent to us. "Expected score" estimates what you'd get on an exam today from the questions you've answered correctly. When it's comfortably above the pass mark in every topic, you're ready to book a session with a local VE team or an online exam session.
