Photo Metadata Viewer & Remover
See the hidden EXIF, GPS, IPTC and XMP data in your photos and remove it without re-compressing. Your images never leave this page.
Cleaning options
Phones often save photos sideways and add an Orientation tag telling viewers to rotate them. Removing it can make a portrait photo display rotated. Keeping just that one tag (a 34-byte EXIF block with nothing else in it) reveals nothing about you. Baking the rotation into the pixels would need re-encoding, which loses quality — if you want that, use the Image Compressor, which re-encodes and drops all metadata.
A colour profile holds no personal data but can change how colours look; wide-gamut photos may look duller without it. PNG and WebP colour profiles are always kept.
How removal works
Files are rewritten byte by byte — the compressed image data is copied unchanged, so there is no quality loss. JPEG: APP1–APP15 segments (EXIF, XMP, IPTC/Photoshop, ICC, maker data) and comments are dropped; the Adobe APP14 colour-transform marker is kept because some JPEGs decode with wrong colours without it. PNG: tEXt, iTXt, zTXt, eXIf and tIME chunks are dropped. WebP: EXIF and XMP chunks are dropped and the header flags and RIFF size are fixed. HEIC files can be inspected but not cleaned here.
